Obama explains why he doesn't salute the US Flag


I sure hope this gets around before Nov.!!!

On Sat, 22 Mar 2008 18:48:04 -0400, 'LTG Bill Ginn' USAF ret. forwarded the following:

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin,
presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he
doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171,
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present
except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag
with the right hand over the heart.

'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking
sides,' Obama said. (Then what side is he on???) 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the
American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a
war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should
be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song
'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I

might salute it.'

Now I do admit that the National Anthem does have some harsh undertones, but it tells the tale of our fight for our freedom and liberties, and reminds us of those who fought and died to gain and grant them to us....AMEN!!!

I also heard in one of his speeches that this was the "First Time" he really felt proud to be an American.....What the hay??? if that is the first time, then you need to go back to where ever it is you think you would be happier....

He no gets me vote Guvner!!!!

Every time i hear his whole name, it just makes me cringe...Obama (Osoma) and Husein.....Ewwwww!!!

They tell me he will not be sworn in useing a Bible,what does that tell you. Also that he has taken the US flag off of his plane. Not getting my vote.
 
I'm a vet. Didn't care for the mess I was in, but I fly the stars and stripes in front of our house as well as the pow/mia flag. If Obama won't stand up for our flag, I can't stand up for Obama.
 
Well, I'm a Veteran AND I live in Wasilla, Alaska, AND I fly the colors of our Country over my door...McCain and Palin have ALREADY got the votes in THIS home!

Those who say Sarah Palin can't handle the job just plain don't know her very well!:usaflag::usan:
 
I don't care if they do not know the job now...you can learn...What I DO care about is someone who gets into office, and takes the pledge out of schools, takes the bible out of the courtroom, takes "In God We Trust" off the dollar, makes us all wear some new funky religious symbol they came up with all on their own, and starts us believing that God has forsaken our country and Allah is alive and well and will save us from ourselves...lol......This is what will happen if Obama gets in office....

There seem to be some misconceptions going of out there.Please do more research.I think that politics ought to be kept off these forums.
 
There's an off topic forum on Findmall specifically for discussing politics and other non detecting related topics.

Not that long ago I read I don't know how many comments within a forum string about a gentleman and his taser, and I didn't see one complaint about it not being connected with MDing. And we all had a good laugh be it fact or fiction. In this string we got some insight on our possible next President be it fact or fiction. It's all up to us how we use this information, be it on how to use a taser, or not use a taser, or who to elect for office. It's how we use the info that is being presented: Be it MDing, testing a taser, or picking a President.

Granted, I, like the rest of the readers in the string got a good laugh out of taser story, and If I accept one non-MDing story in this forum then I have to accept them all. Can't be on both sides of the fence.

I did not mean to open up a can of worms on this, but I guess I asked for it...If the opening statements are actual truth or not, is up for debate, but I do know some of it has been commented on by Obama, and I did not like what I heard....I won't get into what was said exactly...heck I probably could not even remember, seeing as how I can not remember what I had for dinner last night...lol

This is an old and tired internet hoax - Obama never said anything close to that. Sorry folks, a simple google search will tell you the truth in about 5 seconds. It is taken directly from a satirical piece, found here

As for Obama not swearing on the bible - again, false. That was Keith Ellison, not Obama. see following link -

As for the flag on the plane that was removed - it was removed because it was part of the official logo of the jet before it was repainted. the flag was then painted in a more formal manner on the side as it was refurbished. Get that - added again.
