I found this class ring made by jostens stamped inside is arg what does this mean and no its not the person initials

Argentus - In the 1970s and 1980s Jostens made some class rings out of Argentus which they described as follows: "Jostens Argentus A new dawn in white precious for your college ring. A unique blend of silver and palladium, (not stainless steel) metals. Argentus is hard and durable and will retain its brightness and beauty for years to come." Patent info...http://www.trademarkia.com/argentus-73146554.html
Here is another variant of Argentus with a yellow color, different alloys used to make different colors...http://www.pandahi.com/1008384438.html
I cannot find anything that states what the composition is besides "silver and palladium, (not stainless steel) metals". This should be taken with a grain of salt, at least with the yellow colored version, because both silver and palladium are colorless metals. Without disclosing the composition Jostens could use whatever percentage they want. You may have to test the silver content to figure out how much is there. Other than silver, You can only assume the rest might be palladium which is worth $754/ounce right now....http://www.kitco.com/charts/livepalladium.html
Compared to silver at $29.80/ounce.....http://www.kitco.com/charts/livesilver.html#ny

I see some arg stamped rings listed on Ebay and some claim they are "sterling silver .925"...This is without doubt absolutely wrong. And some listed that claim they are silvertone, also wrong.
