I have had all the nice detectors and the DFX was my best one...but it had no depth but found a lot of stuff. So I got a fisher CZ3 and hated it, so simple to use and no number read out. But I gave it a chance and itloved silver and had great depth.
I dug out a 1800 large cent at 12 inches! In the right area the CZ3 was a lot of fun. I hunt more schools and parks and I found the 3Z was not as good at finding newer targets. I did find a lot of change and my share of rings but not like the DFX.
So now I had depth and the high tone on most good coins and some gold coins so now I had a new angle on hunting. I even found an Indian head penny that I would have never dug on my DFX, it was the high tone that got it for me.
Then I bought the CZ70 pro. I sold a Troy X5 after a week of using it. The CZ70 was like a DFX but with the depth of the CZ3. It loved coins that were close togeather and loved nickels and I mean nickels. I must have four hundred dollars in nickels in my nickel container,(the CZ3 also loves nickels)!
So now I have two different detectors but I want another one. Thought about the Explorer and I know how heavy they are and I can't deal with the added weight after swinging the Fishers.
So I am looking at the coinstrike...seems more like a DFX with less to program but it has depth and does great around trash with the standard coil. And I think that is going to be the new one for me.
I like to go and hunt a place over again if it seemed to produce a mix of good finds, so I like having different detectors to see what I may have missed or what the detector was not able to find.
The CZ70 is my go in and see what is there detector because I get depth and I have the fourth tone to help me on older coins. And I have the 10.5 coil
I guess to sum it up each detector has its own way of hitting targets so why not work it over again with a different detector. I know that during the morning a target will hit differently then it will in the afternoon. And the different seasons change the ground as does the time of day.
Nothing out there in the way of new detectors that is a better mouse trap they are all just a little different. The detector is only as good as the person using it right.
