What do you think this is? Any guesses?

Found around an old early 1800s foundation with some horse tack. Not sure what material is but think pewter. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

Looks like nail anchors bent over with one broken off ........... on back side..

Maybe the family name was posted on the house or fence. I'd like to buy a vowel, please.

Hmm, interesting find their.

It appears to have been fastened to something soft (like leather). If you look at the back part carefully, you can see a shadow of something like a leather strap that was once attached to it. 2 fastening nails and a nob (for a lack of a better word) for adjusting the length of something (belt maybe?). The way the nails were hammered back close to the buckle leads me to believe it was something thin and accessable from the back to be able to hammer the nails back the way they are.

Just my thoughts on it.

That's the kinda stuff I really enjoy seeing (histroy). That's a great piece you have their thinlizzie, thanks for sharing it with us.

:)

Will be going back to that spot. Was below 0 and ground was frozen . Found 2 fired round balls yesterday March 28 at an old fort site . Love looking for history.
