What do you think about these pocket amplifiers???

I was looking at headphone amplifiers and ran across these. I found them for sale on ebay, too.

I think I'm going to build one (with a limiter switch) to see how they do.

What do you think?

I built a couple of small amplifiers back in the BFO/TR era. I've also had the Champion, Bluebird and Goldrush Depthmaster models, actually I still have the Goldrush and one of the home built ones. They helped a lot on some of the older detectors, but I haven't found them to help much, if any, when using disc mode on the detectors I've used that were built in the last 20 years or so. They do help to hear the deep whispers when using a threshold based non-motion all metal mode.

They work great if you are using a full size stereo headphones when listening to an ipod.

Unless you plan on building several of them at once parts wise it's going to cost you more than the $20.00 listed unless you have the
better brand quality parts on hand.
