What do you think about the Infinium Stock shaft?

I wanted to know what you thought of the Infinium Stock shaft and what other options have you tried to correct the limp noodle effect it has ( the shakyness of the shaft )

I LOVE my Infinium LS but IMO, the stock shaft is about worthless and the only thing the stock shaft is good for is the garbage. Garrett should be embarressed of the type of shaft they chose to use.
I put on a straight shaft and problem solved.

Here is what I use .....................

.................How does it keep your hand and wrist from not getting wore out?
The straight shafts are notorious for that due to the bend in the shaft infront of your hand grip not being there.
The bend is what taks the stress off your wrist/hands..

Just curious if you are having problems with swinging it for long periods of time?

thank you for you reply back too me

The angled hand grip and the forearm strap on my straight shaft work great for me. I can hunt for hours and hours with no problems of fatigue in or out of the water. The weight distribution that the straight shaft allows is what helps me.

Alrighty then.....
I see your sorta a newbie on the Infinium, I practically layed my MXT to rest since I got my Infinium lastyear, only break out the MXT when I come across alot of trash...
I wished the Infinium had the Shaft of an MXT, I am not convinced of the straight shaft, yes I know you said it works for you and I'm glad, I have heard of guys buying the straight shaft and it wears their wrist/hand/forearm out...

Wonder if they make a shaft thats like the MXT with the " S " curve instead of just the straigh shaft??

I heard about someone making them where they are like it the other day and you can get all sort of patterns on it like Mossy Oak, Rattle Snake, DIgital Camo etc...

Have you heard of this and if so do you think people would be interested if I find the info out?

I think the patterns would be neat to have and having the " S " shaft would be the ticket

I am a newbie to the Infinium, but not to straight shafts. I have always used straight shafts for my water machines and all have worked great for me.

Good Luck in you quest.

I was so concerned about all of the negative reports on the Infinium's shaft that I was looking seriously at buying a straight shaft, even without having received my Infinium. Now that I've used the stock shaft a number of times, I don't notice any lower shaft wiggle. In my real world use, I'm swinging the coil at the recommended sweep speed, and the shaft doesn't have any noticeable wiggle. If I flick the coil side-to-side, I can easily wiggle the lower shaft, but that is an intentional action. So far, my wrist has been just fine as well. Others have clearly had different results though, but I saved money because I hadn't decided on which straight to buy by the time my Infinium arrived..

I'm glad to hear from someone who likes the stock shaft.

I use my infinium in the water 100% and have had no luck with the stock shaft no matter how slow I sweep. The arm cuff with no strap doesn't help either.

Valid point Lake Hunter; My use has been on the beach, and at the water line, not in any water depth that would add resistance to the coil sweep. I could see the shaft wiggling at the end of each sweep under those conditions. I'm still learning the machine before I venture into deeper water where the basic actions become that much more challenging.

Same here on the shaft issues, lotta play when swinging, but thats just me, had strait shafts on the excals for 4 years, I Like'm..but the stock works for some...I like your Ls shaft lake hunter..what is the tubing size..Id/Od..Gotta make one.....thanks joe

I always thought that it was rather cheap/stupid that Garrett didn't see fit to have an arm strap. Hell, take a look at the Ace 150/250... notice anything? ..Willy.

the older ones would wiggle a good bit so Garrett beefed it up for the part that goes in the tube. Mine doesnt wiggle. Maybe some people have older Infiniums with the older shaft.

I can make it wobble if I sling it around real fast but that is not real detecting speed.
