What do you think about the Cortes ?

Well-known member
Im think about the Cortes and how it compares to the Atpro which I don't like the tones on it, any input would be helpful, tigerhank68

Glad you mentioned that Elton, my eyes aren't the best in the world.

The Deleon has less features like SUM mode, and notch circuitry which in my opinion is not needed. It has the same disc. circuit, plus a larger LCD target ID meter, the wife and I really like ours, just my honest opinion.

Thanks Hombre!

I picked up a Cortes last fall, but haven't hunted a great deal with it yet. That said, so far I like it in spite of the small screen and it's doing a good job on coins in my soil. Having never used the ATpro, I can't make a valid comparison.

Hank the Cortes is a great machine I use one when I shoot coins primarily, simply put I switch to narrow notch window turn my disc to foil and It shines picks up coins great cuts out a lot of trash I dig very little trash, I use 7 inch concentric for this . The screen is small as my eyes are not what they were, It is no problem with my glasses on .but hope to see a bigger screen next time maybe

I have the Cortes and the AT Pro. I really do like the Cortes. And I really do like the AT Pro. If I had to choose between them I probably would go with the AT Pro.The pro I think goes a little deeper than the Cortes. Also being completely water proof. I did not like the stock coil for the AT Pro. I bought the 5"X8" DD. Sure makes it light and well balanced. With that coil it weighs 2.6 lbs.....Jack

Thanks guys for the help and taking the time to post! HH tigerhank68

[size=medium]I have the Deleon, and have a Cortes on its way. At 57 I don't see very well even with my glasses on close, but see well at close to far distances. Here is a link I found and if I can't see the Cortes screen good enough I will go here and solve that problem! These look like the ticket to me...

Thanks for the info, I choose to get the golden umax HH, tigerhank68

Vanstheman3, When I had my Cortes I tried the magnifyer, didn't work, too much distortion. So I made this label using MicroSoft Excel, worked great, easy to read at a glance. Used Bee's Wax or some other easy to remove adhesive to hold it in place.

Jabbo now that is easy to read and I like your custom mods you did to it !

jabbo, you dont happen to have that file saved somewhere on your computer that you could send it to me in a email i tried to mess around with mine today and i couldnt figure it out to get it that perfect size you have yours, thanks
Dave

you made a excellent choice on the golden umax, in my opinion i think its best coin hunting machine i have ever used. good luck Clad King

Thanks clad king, I really like it that's what I mostly hunt is coins and jewelry and I love the tones!

Dave, I didn't save the file. Try this: type the titles in caps, one title per line. Then print it out. If the line spacings are too high reduce the height of each line (equally) until the titles all line up perfectly with the bars on the meter. Spray your new paper label with a clear coating to keep it clean or use 2 inch wide clear tape. To change line height point the mouse on the line at the left side of the page where the lines are numbered, then drag the line up or down.

I have been using my Deleon a good bit lately and I Love It, It's a very straightforward and easy MD to use! It's my first Tesoro and I see why the word Fun is always used to describe Tesoro's! Thursday I got my Cortes, Now I have switched to using it. I am 57 and have Bifocals that are overdue for replacement and I have no trouble seeing and dealing with the small screen? I don't think you can go wrong with either of them, If you can't see well get the Deleon If you want the Sum Mode, and a Backlight, and ground balance, Get the Cortes. As far as the AT Pro goes, I have never even seen one, So I can't say anything about it at all. GL & HH.............Pat

Cortes is old technology................a new Fisher CZ is on the way for the later part of this year. Wait and see...Tesoro had a chance but dropped the ball!!
