What Do You Think About ML ?

ML releases the E-TREC this Friday. I have an SE, but if I had purchased a SE Pro in the last 5-6 months and I wasn't warned about the new machine making an appearance soon and that I might want to wait to make that decision until I see the new unit I would sever any business dealings with ML, ML should give 100% trade in from the SE Pro customers who purchased the Pro on the E-TREC if the purchaser chooses to do so and the SE Pro is less than 6 months old. The dealers are stuck in the middle. How can they make right what ML did wrong? If you are one of those who got the screws put to you, please don't take it out on the dealer. Jim

I got a super deal on it just to try it out with the new coil...but I really understand what you're saying. I came so close to picking up a new SE Pro recently but my spider sense told me not to. The E-Trac still has to prove itself to all of those who will use it and compare it to the XS, EX II, and SE models :)...time will tell all...HH

All I can say is...get over it...new models are announced all the time and sometimes you get stuck with buying something in the middle of new model transition. Companies can either innovate or sit back and rely on their current models to sell. I think we can all say that we'd rather see them innovate and bring out new products. It is not as if the model you just purchased is instantly worthless or useless. I'll happily take your SE off your hands if figure it is (and this comes from a happy Explorer II user)...

I have been dealing with computers (and detectors, for that matter) for most of my life and this has been the eternal truth about technology. Companies can never make everyone happy all of the time when dealing with new technology rollouts. As for Minelab, what else could they do? They have to announce new products some time and no matter when they did it, someone somewhere would have a whinge about just buying something from the company without the future product line being announced before they made their purchase decision.

Just sit back and start saving your pennies for this hot new machine...I know that I will be...:detecting:

cheers...Keith

You beat me to this grumpy. I responded the same way to another thread and L cut & paste it the same here:

This is when someone asked if minelab would upgrade like Fischer did for the F75. My response was below,

"I'm not part of MineLab but the phrase,"When HELL freezes over" comes to mind. They would have to basically give you new housing with new software, circuitry, etc and that basically is the major cost of the MD. Now if they said for 300-400 dollars we can do this for the old ones that they would get a LOT of business in my opinion." More business than people who have the old SE wanting to buy a whole another machine at $1,499 out right.

I am in the market, but if it doesn't have on board GPS and automatically log the co ordinates of your finds, and let you label them for later download to a PC so you can map your finds, I don't see where PC connectivity is going to get you more and better finds. I'll probably be getting the Pro.... HH Joe
