What do you set your disc on.

For relic hunting on the F75 what setting for disc do you use. Bill Ladd wrote in the forum that a setting of 4-5 so you can hear the iron. If you set it higher you disc out iron. So say you have nails and a good target and really close will the good target get masked?

And for schools and parks again do disc out iron and maybe foil. Most rings for me that are gold come in under tabs. I guess I will do some testing on targets with disc out the unwanted targets and see if the wanted targets get a reading and then reverse it and see if it picks it up.

Try 0 disc and DP tone mode so you have the multi tones and see what you think as you will hear everything, but check out all that are not real low tones that is iron. It maybe a little noisy to begin with and you will get used to it after a while, but any good target close to a iron target you should hear a higher tone. I read this on this forum and tried it and it seems to work real good for me. Sometimes I had to raise the disc to 7 as it would quiet down a bit if the small iron is real bad, but also had to listen more for the good targets close to iron.

I bought the F75 to experiment with its settings so I will try your idea and see if it works in Calif Gold Country ground.

Thanks

I use disc at 5. 5 seems to be the point where internal noise is cut off. I let the tone and target ID work and let my (little) brain do the filtering.
