I was out running my E-Trac trying to figure out some sounds and numbers in essense trying to learn the machine. Anyway I hit a 13-30 that was very mellow and repeatable. I kinda expected it to be a piece of can slaw. It was down about 7 ". I flipped the plug and saw that yellow metal glaring back at me. I took it home cleaned it up. It is a classring from the class of 1934. Its 79 yrs old and I haven't yet found out how long it has been in the ground. Now for the rest of the story, the 10K 6.6 gram class ring has initials in it. It belongs to a man who is currently 97 yrs. old and still in relatively good health and cognizant. I plan on returning it to him when my health improves. Got a bad case of the crud right now and don't want to jedpordize his health. Needless to say I'm impressed with the E-Trac. I'll put up some pictures and more information as it developes. I keep asking myself the question,How often would you find something that old and be able to return it to the owner?

Please get it on film. Alert your local news channel for coverage. Great thing to be able to do this!!

I apparently have the flue and am feeling really lousy now. As soon as I get better I'm going to do what you suggested if the 97 yr. old young man will agree to it.

I hope you get to feeling better and everything works out! Congrats and HH

You might jeopodize his health more, by giving him back the ring.....just kidding! Great story. I'm so glad he is still around after that long. I hope you're able to find out when exactly he lost it. Keep us informed and get over your crud.

Congradulation on finding the Ring. He might have some property for you to detect- I'm also under the crud since Nov 11, 2013 goldnugget

Returned the ring today. The owner lost it a month after he graduated from High School. Pictures and possible video to follow.

It sure seem to make him happy. He commented that it brought back alot of memories for him. I can only imagine how precious 79 yr old memories could be at this point in his life. I videoed a clip of my returning the ring to him but its in an mpg format so I'm going to have to figure out how to convert it to an acceptable format.

There is a newspaper article about this find in the Southwest Times Pulaski Va. Sunday edition 12-15-2013 if anyone wants to read it.
