what do I do

my AT Pro went nuts the other day when I was hunting in a field, so I went home and checked my machine, this is what I found, is this under warranty, the machine is 1 1/2 years old.

Smudge, been detecting for over 12 years and never used one on any of my 5 machines, never had a problem like this before, I have had a GTI1500 for 10 years now and no problem, next coil, I'll epoxy the bottom

I would still like to know why there are no coil windings inside that coil housing. It might explain why you had trouble getting the coil to work

PS.
The windings are completely encased in an very tough conductive epoxy resign (for EMI and EST shielding) so even if the outer skid plate epoxy chipped and fell away , the coil would still work.

Good luck to you Caretaker.

i swear I've never seen a coil break like that before.

Man, thats weird.

That's when your're glad you bought a Garrett. The same thing happend to me in the same spot. I didn't even notice it until later. Garrett took great care of me. Coil covers are too brittle for around here. I'm using a roof sealer called "Flex Seal Liquid Rubber Sealant Coating" on both machines & very happy with it. It stays on, wears well and retains some rubberiness- great for foiling the sneaky rocks around here.

I bought a used AT with a very small crack in the coil that was operator error from the previous owner. I called Garrett when I bought the machine and told them what happened. I sent in the old coil and had a new one in hand in less then a week. GREAT customer service.
