I ordered an Excalibur yesterday on Monday from Kellyco. Later that night, I notice that Ron's has a sale on Minelabs, and the price on the Excalibur was lower than Kellyco's. (Kellyco also has a fall sale going on Minelabs.) When I asked about the 120% price guarantee, I was told that it could not be honored because Ron is no longer selling Minelabs and is just clearing them out. I'm thinking "So? Isn't a guarantee a guarantee?" Below is the wording of the guarantee:

"1. A 120% Price Guarantee: We are confident that both our prices and packages are the lowest and best available! If you see the same metal detectors that we sell for a lower price anywhere else in the U.S., we will reward you with cash! Within 10 days of your purchase from Kellyco, send us any factory authorized dealers catalog, mail order flier, or web page that offers the same product for less than you paid us and we will gladly refund you the difference plus 20% of that difference! "

I did send the web site page and actual ad to Kellyco.
Am I wrong?

No. You're not wrong. You are right.

If what you posted is their entire price guarantee then they owe you. If they have a 'fine print' version they should supply it on demand.

If it was me I would dig in my heels and tell them to pay up.

Is Ron still an autherized dealer?

This is the second time in a week I have heard of someone being unhappy with kellyco. This never seemed to go on in the past. Evidently something is up at kellyco. New management? New pressure to meet certain sales or profit quotas? Who knows for sure but whatever it is its not working out for them. Times have gotten pretty tough in FL with the housing slump (kellyco is located close to Orlando). It may be there employees were told no raises or were actually asked to take cuts in pay or layoffs. This will send moral right down the toilet and can have a tendency to show itself in poor customer relations.

I have personally seen this type thing going on in all sectors of FL economy and hobby type retailers like kellyco can be more adversely effected than most. People just don't buy hobby related goods when money becomes tight. It would not surprise me if there walk in business has seen as much as a 50 percent drop which will result in some pretty short tempered and grumpy commission based sales weasels. Most are bad enough when times are good.

you know thats funny i thought i was the only person in the world that had a problem with them. i purchased a cobra beach magnet (ok ok so i didnt know better ) and after taking it out one time i was not really impressed with it i thought its performance was marginal and contacted them to see why this supposed $1000.00 list price machine was operating the way it was. by the way i got it for around 360.00 on sale anyway i told them i thought they kinda mis represented the unit and i wanted what was ideal for the beach but with some balls if you know what i mean....so they said you should by an excaliber...so why didnt you tell me that to begin with? the guys name is roger by the way...he says when you are ready to buy call me ill take care of it...so a week later i call and reminded him of my situation and wanted to see what they would do which was to offer me a 1000 at full price...no thanks roger..ive since purchased a minelab 1000 and a sov x2a pro and ill never look back nor will i ever buy from them again...good luck, stay low and swing slow happy hunting all!!!:detecting:

I received an email from Margaret at Kellyco - and a phone call today - the guarantee has been honored and applied to my CC. Margaret helps to bring resolutions to problems that come up.
