What Coil ?????

Willee - Texas

If I am looking for small gold and silver chains in the beach sand what coil do you think would be the most sensitive for that?

Willee

High frequency for gold and low freq. for silver..In this case would opt for the high freq. as gold is worth a heck of lot more than silver...

Either the 6" 18.75 DD or the "5" X "10" 18.75 DD, The 6" will find very small items in beach sand.
I found what I hope is a diamond stud earring and the setting is very small. I have also dug bird-shot and .177 lead pellets with it.
If I knew how to upload pics I would post some of my finds, they aren't much but would show how small of items the 6" DD finds.

Hands down - the 5" x 10" 18.75khz DD ! It's sensitive to small gold, pinpoints well, has good target separation and it's light!

The 5 x 10 18.75 Khz is what I have been using at the beach in the fluffy stuff and you all were right.
It is an awesome coil for beach hunting.
Not so good for the salt water soaked sand but for the dry stuff it rocks.
Using preset program #1 with the sensitivity set at 22 to 25.
Nice steady background that nulls over iron.
I have found that I can swing it quite fast and listen for a blip to zoom in on.

It will hit the coins down deep and is very good at finding nickles.

Wish they had this same coil in a 6 x 12 size.

OR my first choice would be the round 10.5" HF 18.75 kHz DD on the dry sandy beach(not wet sand) for that purpose.

For wet saltwater sand use a Sovereign or Excalibur or any BBS or FBS.

If you are after gold items you are going to have to dig about every brass, lead, and aluminum item as well, as most items containing these metals have the same conductivity as gold and you cannot tell them apart. But fortunatly you can knock out the iron and some tin foil and also it is easy to strain sand at the beach. Throw down plastic poker chips on the sand when you get a good target signal to mark it. Work with a partner that digs and pinpoints for you with a larger size sand straining scoop and maybe also a Tesoro Compadre set as short as possible for pinpointing.

Hope this helps.

Hey ... a team concept.
I can see some kids running off with your poker chips before your friend get to them.
After all ... you threw them down on the beach and walked away. ... :look: ...
