What coil is everybody using on their

there isn't a lot of trash.

If relatively trash-free, or if hunting on a sandy beach type area, perhaps the 10" EXcelerator.

In trashier locations, or brushy sites, I have preferred the 5" EXcelerator, but I am always looking for something that can provide a nice blend of coverage and depth, yet still handle trash well.

Also, I am looking for a decent nugget hunting coil that might be better than what I now have. I'll keep you posted on how things are going with regard to that coil search. :D

Monte

PS: Shawn, there just might be a nice nugget use coil that would also do well when hunting military and/or pioneer encampments when dealing with brush and some litter. Perhaps I can get over your direction this summer as I work with some coils? :) ?

Shawn, I detect almost exclusively in the desert, and the White's Eclipse 10x6 DD is by far and away my favorite coil. The White's 6x4 DD Shooter is also very good. HH Jim

The only 2 coils I use on my wifes MXT is the 6X10 most of the time and the 4x6 for trashy area. They 2 coils work great for most all hunting conditions.

I use the 5.3 Eclipse most of the time. It gets good depth and has a small footprint. The weight/balance of it is very good. It's like it was made for the MXT. Oh wait, it was made for the MXT. hehehe
It's on my detector 90% of the time. If there is one difficulty I have with it, it's that I don't seem to be as accurate pinpointing with it as I am with the stock 9.5 coil, yet. But, I seem to have this problem with all after-market coils. It just takes a little practice. I don't know if it is just me, but it seems that all the coils that I have used that don't have the hole in the center seem to pinpoint towards the center rear of the coil, right under where the rod connects. ??

What do you think?

I"m with Jeff,I use the 5.3 eclipse 98% of the time, the only thing is, is that you have to go slow (forward motion) to overlap your sweeps. I use the stock coil very little of the time, and bought a 14" excellerator coil and have not been impressed with it at all.......:)

I use the 8" and 5" excelerator coils. I just love them. I have used them at the beach, parks, just about every situation you can imagine. I have been more than satisfied with thier performance.
