What are your best settings for the At Pro...

We are heading up to Michigan to stay along on Lake Huron and I'm taking my new AT Pro to hunt with my granddaughter. What settings should we try? She loves to hunt with me and everything is a special treasure to her. We will hunt sand & water will the settings be the same? I will also have my Ace 250 but the AT Pro is new.

Thanks everyone!!

Hi,

I live up here in northern MI and my AT Pro ground balances between 80-89. I consider the ground very mild here. I run mine sensitivity max unless there is some interference. Then back off a 1 or 2 notches. I started out mostly hunting in Pro zero, zero iron disc so I could hear everything. I do like Pro custom with iron set to 31 in really trashy areas and run so I don't hear the iron. I've seen no difference on land or water. Just gb in the water.

Have fun.

Thanks Rick,

I'm just getting started with this AT Pro and my daughter teases me about finding anything . I think I'm going to bet her I'll find enouph to recover the cost of it on this trip! If I lose I know my twin granddaughters will get the money so everyone has fun!

Question: In the Pro Zero mode do you adjust the iron audio or iron disc?

Thanks!

I either run in Pro Zero 00, Iron Audio off or Pro Custom with 40 with Iron Audio on. I hear the all the iron either way but one is with the Iron Audio feature. But I do switch back and forth depending on the ground, or if things get real bad, just turn Iron Audio off in the Custom Mode and just listen to the higher tones.

When I first started with the At Pro I ran sensitivity at max. I have since learned that a few notches down from max lets it run smoother and gets about the same depth.

Ground balance around here is 88 - 92 for the most part but we have an area about 30 miles away where it balances at 76.

It adjusts the iron disc. At 31 mine takes out a nail that I use. The iron sound you have the choice to hear it or not. The iron sounds are what I consider a pleasant low tone. I have noticed lately that in lots of iron I can miss a deep high tone when I'm hearing all the iron right by the deep soft coin sound. So I have started using the Pro Custom with iron off so I can hear those soft sounds easier. I haven't tried Pro zero with iron disc out yet.

WOW! ! I wouldn't make that bet if you have never detected the beach and are not familiar with the Pro.

I would recommend starting out in standard mode and learn how to use the machine. Try dry sand first.
Then re-ground balance over wet sand. Switch to Pro mode zero and Discriminate at 35. In my wet sand In
California there is no way you can run Max sensitivity. Maybe there in your area you can. Start off at factory
preset sensitivity then ramp it up one bar at a time in wet sand until you start to false. Then back it off until
you don't. Be sure to take your manual and know how to use the iron audio for bottle caps. This is very
important at the beach. If you get into the surf you will have to re-ground balance your machine.

Most of all have a good time with your grand daughter. Mine are 6 and 7 and there is nothing better than
spoiling them rotten and handing them back to mom and dad.

Have a great vacation

Thanks everyone for all your settings! I can't wait to wade along Lake Huron with my twin granddaughters. One really likes to hunt for treasure with me and the other one not so much! They are identical twins and I'm always confused sorting them out!! I'm taking my Ace 250 as well. I've been practicing with the AT Pro a little so we will see.

Thanks!!
