What are the differences between Sov. GT and the Elite model? Thanks,Ray.

My honest opinion is the GT is much better then the Elite, but still both good detectors. First thing I notice with the Elite was the controls being in a differnt postion than any of the other Sovereigns which case some confussion and also seem like the control got bumped more. I also notice the ones I used seem that the targets sounded deeper than it actualy was.
Now on the GT i notice the control went back to where they should have been and they added a silent search toggle switch for those that want silent search which I thought it didnt need, but now i see where it can come in handy in the areas where signals are far a few so you dont have to listen to that low growl of iron as chances are it was the last target it seen. Also one I never use is the iron mask switch as it is always in the on postion as I dont mind the little falsing it gets as I can tell the differnece from experience, but like to get coins in with nails. With it off it seems to null more and not give a signal on a coin close to iron.
The GT also has the option of ground balancing or lock for gold hunting and this is only active while in all metal, so I just leave mine in pinpoint so when i want to pinpoint I just switch to all metal and it will be in pinpoint.
Both the Elite and the GT have a better battery system than the older ones and use the Nickle Metal Hydride battereies instead of the NiCad.
Myself I feel the GT has a little more puching power for the deeper targets both in tone and meter reading seem to be more accruate, but seems to also false a little more too when in manual sensitivity.

Thanks Rick(ND)! I am thinking about trying one to go with my E-Trac.I have a couple of big old parks that are fairly clean and are good black soil.I think they may still have some good old coins at great depth and thought the Sov. might be worth trying for them. What do you think,Thanks Ray.

I think you would be better off putting a 15" WOT coil on the E-Trac and going for the good old coins you think are there.
The Sovereign 10" coil will do no better than the stock E-Trac coil for depth. Might not even do as well.

IMHO
