What are the Beach Detecting condition in Northern Massachusetts?

Any good places to detect in the Rockport, Gloucester, Manchester area? I assume the beach detecting is better Salem to Nahant area or on the cape.

there are some good spots to hunt on Cape Ann/Rockport/Gloucester...lots of little cove beaches some big ones too...Nahant+Revere are good too...also North of Salem near N.H boder are some huge beaches Hampton and Salisbury...there was some good sand moved in a few spots early this week...but most spots are pretty sanded in now!! also any fresh summer loot is mostly gone....these beaches are hit very hard!!!

Are there any charges to get onto the beaches during the summer? Any hour (time of day, hunting at night) restrictions, parking fees, etc?

charge a non resident fee. Cranes Beach in Ipswich charges 20 or 25 dollars, even off season. other than that, this time of year, no headaches... Go for it! What area you from?

Hampton in NH is hit really hard by lots of guys... My last trip wasn't very productive. No fee, but no alcohol on the beach, they will take you off in hand cuffs!! :angry:Good luck.

Thanks for the information. I live in Pennsylvania although all of my mom's relatives are New Englanders.

I wouldn't be up to detect until next summer. Is the charge applicable to evenings as well or is there a cut off time? In New Jersey you don't pay after 5 PM.

I guess the after midnight abuses have created that situation. I wonder what the Cape is like?
