What are optimal settings for larger targets?

If you were using the F75 to go after larger targets (so as to maximize depth), like gun parts, buckles, a mason jar cache, etc., is there any way to setup that will ignore fairly small targets (like rivets and snaps or like sized targets, non-ferrous as well as ferrous) ?

its kinda in its (the 75) nature to like smallish targets. If I were to wanna minimize responses to small targets...I'd likely run DE,,,with a very very low sens setting. The pitfall of running higher disc to try to eliminate them...is just because its big.......it doesnt mean it will ID any differently than a smaller target (conductivity is key here)...and running a high disc will put it in Enhanced mode.....like JE....so it will be even more sensitive to smallish targets. If you want DIG only big targets.............you'd be better off just trying to rely on its footprint than its conductivity, and just use a low sensitivity setting, with disc at the upper limit of its normal range (like 19).................

But it's so sensitive...hard to say...

wheather it be linear disc.or notching....you affect depth to a degree. Aside from that.....if you turn you disc up for any reason.....you invoke the dreaded boost. thats the ONE thing I wish were different about the 75. I wish the boost werent tied to the disc setting. I want boost when I want boost......NOT when the machine decides it wants it for me!!

I'm with Streak on the disc. and de mode. With a little practice, though, the F75 "sizes" targets extremely well, which would enable you to bypass the smaller targets. I sure would hate to miss a nice button, though. HH jim tn

None that I can tell

Set your threshold negative, that will help alleviate the small targets, and put it into the Static Mode. This is full time all metal, very deep, especially on bigger targets. Your machine will drift and you will have to retune it periodically by pulling the trigger, but this mode is deep.

Thanks Scully, I suspected there had to be a way to cut down on the small target signals, while getting better depth. I know there is the chance for masking in this case, but in an area without a lot of trash it should work.

This machine does it better than most. Its fast enought that you can usually tell when you have two targets side be side. A bigger on masking a smaller "good" target below, well, there isnt much you can do about that. Some times digging the big pieces to get them out of the way is the only real solution.
