what are good coils for the AT Pro?

My friend who doesn't do much on computers asked me to see what are good coils for the AT Pro. He has the original one he got when he bought it. He mainly hunts parks and farm house yards so something that gives him good reactivity as well as depth.
thanks...

Good question, I mostly hunt lakes so I use like the 5x8", it has good depth and picks good targets in trashy areas. HH

I see this asked over and over on the forums. The best answer is an indirect one. Need to learn how coils work and why , as well as the reasons for different sizes of coil. Then it comes down to choosing coils that best fit your particular needs , style , and location .....with the newly gained knowledge of coils. Im not trying to be a smart alec or anything , that's just the reality of it. There really is no replacement for knowing how the coils work and why , being able to select which coil to use for the site and circumstances. Without that knowledge a person wont know how to use any of them effectively.

The 5 x 8 would be my choice in trashy parks. For not so trashy parks, the large concentric coil would be my second choice, due to its large footprint, good depth and more accurate ID compared to a DD coil, especially for bottle caps.

So far my buddy is concentrating on the NEL Hunter and the Detect Ultimate 13....
Does anyone have any experience with those? Again, he hunts farm yards first and parks if he has to.
Thanks

Keep us informed on how he does with it and if he thinks it is any deeper then the stock 11". I really like the NEL Sharpshooter on my A T and have been wondering about the Hunter. HH jim tn

I just found out this week the answer to your question. Had a friend tell me the 6.5x 9 concentric coil would better suit my needs as I also hunt the same environment your friend does. Parks, yards etc. I called Garrett and I couldn't believe it, they told me the same thing and said I should gain some depth too. If you need further info call Mary at Garrett and she will tell you the same thing. I just ordered mine from Kellyco. I don't normally deal with them but I asked if they would throw in a coil cover for free and they did!!!

thanks... but too late. He bought a NEL Hunter...
