What an amazing hunt today! 23 keepers!

Hey all, today my roommate and I decided to go back to the park I was at yesterday to hunt a different area that we hunted once before. Armed with our AT Pro's, we had high hopes. We parked the car and started walking to this little secluded area. Within a few mins we each had a wheatie. This little section (100' x 30') was "loaded" with trash and I mean loaded. Every swing would result in multiple targets. Bottlecap galore! My roommate was first on board with silver, a '36 merc. I retaliated by finding my own merc, a '41. Then he found a 1906 Indian, I again retaliated with a Buffalo and then a wheat. He then got a wheat, then me, then him, then me, then him. Back and forth all day like this. He then found another merc, a 1930. I again retaliated and dug my own merc, a 1926. This was getting to be a great hunt. I then was able to snag another merc, this one a worn '24. He still kept up pace finding the wheaties and then it happened. I got a high 70's signal that I thought was a bottlecap as it seemed kinda scratchy at the end of the tone. I dug a plug, flipped it over and saw a wheatie and a buffalo stacked on top of each other. I didn't notice the 2nd wheatie next to the plug until I put the plug back in the hole. LOL crazy! It started getting late and a few not so nice looking punk kids started having a domestic argument at the top of their lungs, so we decided to call it a day.

So in a nutshell, my roommate managed 17 wheaties, 2 mercs and the indian. I myself managed 18 wheaties, 3 mercs and 2 buffalos. Total was 43 keepers between the two of us. Total of a 3 hour hunt. Best day I've had in a long long time and its not too often when you dig more keeper coins than you do clad coins, same for my buddy. We owe it all to the AT Pro's and to this virgin spot in the park. As for my clad count, I found 16 memorials, 1 canadian penny, 2 dimes and 1 nickel. Also, I apologize for the sloppy pictures. I didn't bring my digital camera today, but wanted to share how I saw the coins as I dug them up, so I took the pictures with my camera phone. I forgot to photograph one of the merc's as I dug it, oops! HH!

Thanks William, I am kinda skeptical about hunting it again due to the fact that when we took a smoke break we did a quick tally of our finds and were tied at 7 each. We then started to grid the field. I won't write it off just yet. There's still a lot of iffy signals there. Next weekend we are going to hunt a hillside in the park that is relatively close to this hot spot.
