What additional coil for my Vaquero........

What coil does everyone recommend for trashy park areas for a Vaquero. Have the stock coil but am looking for something a little smaller for better target separation in trashy park areas. Thanks in advance!

The 5.75 coil helps separates and lets you work among the trash better. And it gets good depth too if that's a concern.

Same as others , 5.75. I haven't noticed much difference in depth if any than when I use the stock coil.

Which would you recommend for mild to moderate mineralisation, but very heavy iron in old house sites,............ concentric or widescan 5.75 Thanks, Jerry :tesoro:

I've been looking for a 5.75,and had hoped to find a used one. Now, I think I'll back off and stick with the stock coil and the 3 by 18 clean sweep..I was kidding around on a different post about Tab Dog and trash in the ground. That does not seem to be that much of a problem where I have been hunting...I am amazed at what he digs up..I only have one site I would consider trashy, and it has about a pound of aluminum cans per square foot covering (possibly one known good ring) the ground. If, I had to dance in ,among trash, I can borrow a four inch coil for my Silver and see what it does. I use the stock coil and am satisfied it works well in masking situations..Odds are that I am wrong, but to pay $65 and a 1 oz Silver round (this is what I offered in WTB) to separate some coins from trash??? Will just let it slide into the far reaches and hope no one calls me to make good on my offer...I would suggest a 3 by 18 clean sweep coil for the V..You can cover an amazing area in a short time..I think the point here ,is not to go off swinging like a wild man.Be low, slow and systematic, and you will start running a rack. Back in the 60's, he who covered the most ground, got the most goodies..That still holds true....My 2 cents, cordially Nad

Vaquero is an H.O.T. machine. I would also recommend the 5.75DD widescan coil. Very impressive, I never take mine off my Cibola.

I had to have both types of coils.
The concentric works well if the ground is not heavy in mineralization. It pinpoints center and I think the discriminate (if you use discrimination) is a tad better than the DD. Also the inverted cone matrix - must overlap the sweeps more carefully. Works well for coin, jewelery and relic.
The DD Widescan is better for higher mineralization soils. Since it has a somewhat bladed block matrix, the overlap is not as critical so it can cover ground faster. The pinpoint is heel to toe. Has the edge for mineralization, can work well for relic in the right conditions.

The coil I mentioned is the 5.75 concentric. Mineralized soil is not a problem around here. And the center pinpoint is really easy.

just recently picked up a vaquero and the air tests i'm getting seem shallow and this is with the stock coil by way what is the norm for say with a qaurter maybe its my battery maybe getting worried for nothing any tips?

Tha V is a fairly deep machine.

You may have a low battery.

Getting depth with it may take

some practice.

But it really gets good depth on

small gold jewelry. Other small

objects can be recovered fairly

deep. Like lead and some small

relic finds.

For findin high condiuctive coins

of good size, and at greater depth

may not be tha V's best task.

But it is good at that, in my opinion.

That's not my bag anyway.

But, that seems to be what a lot of

hunters like.

I like relics and gold.

Tha Tejon would be even more sensative.

But, tha weight and tha pocket book

slow me down.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

well there tab dog i would'nt mind trying a tejon but i always read where they were more of a relic detector than a coin shooter due to the frequency they run, i just wish they would come outt with a machine that had tones of the golden and depth of the tejon with a manual ground balance
