Well I said I was heading west to try out one the local dams, scored absoloutly no treasures
But scored a heap of these to be BBQ'D fella's. Took my eldest boy and my neighbour with me
and both had a great time scoring a few Redclaw.
We got chased out by the fools on ski boats and jetski's about 8am this morning so it was time
to pack up and head home. Went for a tect in the water a nearly got run over by a jet ski.:ranting:
So I said to my old might Ronnie time to go.
It's a slow slog towing a boat around the hills where you are not allowed to overtake but..........
When out the blue came a Subaru car club swarm of about 80 WRX overtaking on double lines.
First 2 lots was a bit hair raising but the 3rd one nearly cleaned us, them and another vechile coming the other way.
Got it on Video too.:rant::thumbdown::argue:@#@!*@!#
These guys could of killed somebody, total disregard fot anybody at all.
Anywho, made it back alive to tell the tale.
HH and cheers

You found another kind of gold. The gold that is edible
Those disrespectful/deadly drivers probably belong to some club. If you choose to do some 'educating', you might send a copy of the video to the club president (if you want to be generous) or a copy sent to the local television news source...or even the State Traffic law folks might serve as a more powerful educational tool. Your video just might be the clincher that adds to similar reports received At least you can provide identification of car and driver..Too bad the nice people are victimized by idiots. Jim

That is funny about the "mud bugs", I have one living in a 10 Gallon aquarium. Yours look BIG!! Mine hasn't grown to that size yet, I have only had him for about a year. Wait till he finds out how good he is with BBQ sauce  HH Joe

Hi fellas
JoeinMemphis that's quite a handsome cray ya got there, we ended up with about 100 of those Redclaw.
Last night BBQ crayfish and then tonight pan fried in butter and garlic with a bit parsley for appetiser MMMMMMMM.
It was a wild weekend, it actually started out taking my boy in for doctors appointment only to go into a pay only car park that was in the
wrong block, Oh yes we took 2 vechiles as I was leaving from the doctors pack the boat, and head off.
My wife was caught in an elevator for 2 hrs, we missed Zach's appointment waiting for the lift tech to release the other half.
But the Doc had a cancellation 2 hrs after the wife got out of solitary confinment, so we were 2 hrs late getting things packed.
We got to our destination just on dark so I missed out on an evenings detect.
Other guys catching these fellas were getting a 1000 a night but a tad smaller. They couldn't believe the size of ours.
HeyJim thanks for help on the compressor side of things. Thats my little boat I want to put one in and dive to the 3 or 4 metre
mark, as there is heaps of places I reckon holding a few treasures as Iv'e seen people jumping of the old jetties and have
been for years.
My dad remembers swimming there years ago and said a lot of people lost heaps off the ones he mentioned.
Also told me a story of my home town in Northern New South Wales about a cache of Soveriegns buryed in the neigbouring paddock from our
old house. He knew the people and apparently a family feud :rant:erupted so the lady of the house hid a jar of Soviegns out in the then scrubby paddock
only to find that after time she couldn't locate them because the trees had grown.Dad also remembers he got involved in helping to locate the cache
with the help of the elderly couple but couldn't locate it. He said he was about 11 yrs old but he was a well trusted lad.
Ive only got a Excal at the moment so an upgrade shouldn't be too far away or I could get and old Garret deepseeker for $100 and go and
searh the area.
Anywho, enough of my rambling on, don't wanna be boring to many people.
HH and cheers

Hi aushunter:ausflag: mate that was a good story,i would check out the video of those wrx fools and see if you got any number plates cops would still book em, what part of northern NSW did you hail from ,i spent 23 years in byron bay.terry:ausflag::thumbup:

Gudday Terry,
Born and bred in Casino for 20 yrs, then moved to Lennox Hd, did my Apprenticeship as a chippy
Moved to Ballina then down to Iluka/yamba. Moved to Kyogle for a cuppla yrs, Lismore then in 1987
moved to Brisbane. My parents are still down at Iluka which is great for detecting the beaches and close
to places like Coffs harbour or Evans Hd/Ballina for day trips etc. Nice part of the country.
I use to surf the Lennox and The "Bay" yrs ago until it went crazy.
Cheers mate and HH

Wow, either Minelab has come out with a new detector, the "Morton Bay Bug Bagger Deluxe" :surprised: or you have FAR too much mercury in your bugs if you can detect them with a regular detector and if that's the case, I wouldn't eat them...

Great photos.....

G day Jennifer,
I always take my Excal with me everytime I take the Tinnie out, I love the outdoors a great deal and Fishing, Snorkelling and Detecting seem to go hand in hand.
If it gets a bit slack in fishing, I'll throw on the mask and go and have a poke around searching with Excal.
Even as a young lad before the invention of underwater giga counters I use to fan the sand away from the rock crevices and found a few goodies, spent hrs at a time doing that.
HH and cheers

Hi aushunter:ausflag: i used to go to byron surfing in 63 then i moved there in 78 and did air conditioning all over but mainly in lismore{ what a hole] i joined the malibu club in byron and became captain and then treasurer for about 20 years ,then a yuppie came and offered me good money for my house so i bolted up here to the sunshine coast[buderim] and been here ever since[7 years] the house i was going to buy in byron at wategoes beach was $36k and just before i left that same house went for$6.5million silly me eh!!!! :ausflag:

Terry, this is crazy,
My Inlaws live on the north side of Buderim mountain, they have 5 acres there and just built a new house on it.
Small world, I had the chance to buy at Lennox when I was 18 but was into chasing a bit of tail in those days, some of
those lennox girls Pheww, moving right along, the land was offered to me for $4500 a block now they are somewhere up in 1/1.5 million mark.
Hindsight is awonderful thing.
Good old Lismore, ya hit the nail on the head there but ya know what terry, if they reopen the lake up out at Lismore that is gonna be one hell
of a gold mine as I don't think anyone has detected that before.
Anyway, staying home this weekend as I'm heading into Brisbane to check out the Tinnie and Tackle show.
Was going up the coast this weekend but priorities come first.

Avagoodweekend and HH

Those Redclaw love the humble Rockmelon or even Water melon, You are allowed 4 pots per person (opera house type)
but time is not our side as it is getting cooler they will shut down for the winter.
Cheers & HH
