After traping 10 gophers today in 97 digree heat i sat down to look at my relic finds i picked up an old square nail i found whith my M-6 the other day i noticed that 1.5" of the tip looked bran new and in the middle it was badly coroded ,and missing half the whith so that the nail was bent at that point then the other half was rusted but not as badly coroded as the middle . I i thought this over and came up whith this theory. it was used for a fence the nail held a board into a post and whear the board met the post the middle of the naile was exposed to some weathering this explains the deep corosion in the center of the nail. as the outer board roted it feel away leaving 1/2 of the nial exposed to the eliments hence how the head and half was rusty ,the part still in the wood was the best preserved because it was in the wood the longest and was protected by the firts board finally the nailand board where buried and the wood rotted away being under ground it never rusted because of a lack of oxigen then i found it . well as long as im not finding rings and coins i have to make the most of my finds and RCI-bradford is my thing RELICK-SCINE-INVESTIGATION BRADFORD so thats what the nail told me hope you can like to that
