What a small world...

I was out at lunch on various errands today, one of them to get a permit to detect in a certain area. While there the clerk just happened to mention that she was very close friends with 'the wife of a man who CREATED the whole metal detecting thing right in his garage'... I said 'you must mean Charles Garrett!', to which she agreed and then went on to talk about how nice he and his wife are and so on. I pointed out my green Garrett cap and told her that although I've never met the Garrett's, that nice attitude has certainly rubbed off on the folks that work for their company!

Small world.

On another note, pending no issues with the big brown truck on either my end or my trade end....I'll have a REASON to wear that green hat sometime starting mid next week!!! :bouncy:

He's a delightful person. I remember the first International Treasure Hunt and how on Sunday morning he led the services for those interested. I remember him at one of our shows and his sharing of info and helping others. I remember the phenomenal treatment of several dissatisfied or confused customers and how everything was always corrected on the others behalf. And what most people don't know is that even though it STATES only a few years of warranty, you might as well consider it a lifetime warranty, barring misuse. I have MANY stories about Garrett that would take a long time to tell.

I have owned other detectors, but that's past tense! Pyledriver knows that I bleed green! Ace 250, Master Hunter CX Plus, and Infinium LS. The folks at Garrett are the most courteous and helpful people I've ever done business with. I give up the discount I could get through a dealer and just go directly to Garland and get what I need simply because of the service.

Pyledriver, glad your back in green. Call me the minute you get the Infinium. We'll put off work and go swing the coils.

This is true. I won a GMH III off ebay last year for $81, which was inop. I sent it to Garrett and it was in need of everything - circuit board, ribbon connectors, battery pack... it seems the previous owner had left batteries in it for many years. They leaked and ruined the interior.
So Garret rebuilt it, and I mean totally. In addition to the other things mentioned they installed all new wiring harnesses and a new face plate. Total for repairs was $91.

I knew it was broken when I bought it. But I bought it on the good faith that if I sent it for repair, I would not be raped - and I wasn't. Garrett gets it.
