Hello, I'm brand new to these forums...Found you this morning with my coffee.....and thank you in advance for welcoming me as people here are so nice I know it is going to happen.....:)

First....My name is Dan...I'm lucky enough to live in Butte, Montana USA which by the way happens to be the richest hill on earth with lots of old ghost towns and abandoned mining towns around. I also happen to know where this The Highland Centennial Gold Nugget ......... came from It is supposed to be the 7th largest nugget ever found in Montana. I've been placer mining about a quarter mile away from where it was found and have done pretty good. 1 .oz to 1 1/2 .oz a year messing around on the weekends. Short year too as this about 8000 feet above sea level.

I'm rather very new to detecting and my main focus is gold. Pretty soon I'm going to have a million questions for you all as I just got my hands on a Goldmaster V/sat. Though it seems that many of you have them here..(so it can't be all bad).....I don't see much discussion about them in comparisons and such. And I don't seem to find much on the internet about it. (Found the manual though).

I'll have questions like...
-Best size nugget to test this particular machine out: (The the smallest I have is a 3 grain).
-The value keeping the original coil on it or buy a $150.00 4X6 DD. Or have both, and why.

I'm sure I'll have many more and already do but will put some time in on first so I can ask more descriptive questions.

Anyways....thanks to whoever runs this forum and thanks for all the participants.

Also....if you want to see something to motivate your day...check out this youtube vid if you haven't already.

Howdy Dandbuilder,
welcome aboard,, Im sorta new too, started this last year.
I m from the Butte area myself. So its kinda neat to see a local here.
Ive done a bit of Gold dredging and highbanking and sluicing in a few different states,
in my past.
But most recently have just been sluicing and rockhounding, and as you know, our area is full of
really nice specimens .. The kids love rockhounding.
Last year ,we decided to go with the MXT, as we figured we would get 70 percent of our detecting
on relics and coins, and HOPEFULLY 30 percent ,on Gold prospecting.
I figure ill be using the MXT to find heavy streaks of black sand ,and then sluice the material.
Of course , if a little picker or bigger pops up, GREAT!.
So, ya got the G.M. ?
Good for you. I hope your hunting gives you good results.
Keep us posted, Its good to hear local stories.
Oh, I promise to not go sneakin around your areas.
Happy Hunting
Dusty

Nice bit of gold for breakfast.

Makes me want to go back down under.

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. Just looking at the sheer number of small nuggets, that guy has spent a LOT of time nugget hunting!
