Throughout my years as a forum member and my 30+ years of detecting, I have made some constructive criticism towards many manufactures without bias.
Criticism that is not so much about the performance of a particular machine, but criticism geared towards a company's lack of intelligent detector reveals and marketing.
I also have no problem trumpeting the success of a manufacture when they pull it off right.
I thought the initial reveal of a new machine by means of a subtle yet viral picture, that showed the outline of a detector under a sheet.
Behold the Fisher F75, that reveal was a great way of building an underground buzz that lead towards a broader anticipation.
Also, the reveal of the Garrett AT-PRO was cool with a further use of internet media which lead to the AT-PRO first tease promo video.
And the latest (until the Kruzer) "buzz" machine "tease" was the Minelab Equinox.
How do you top a video of a guy parachuting in with a new detector reveal?
Delivery by means of a UFO?
Although cool, the one thing all of those other manufactures lacked in their machine reveals is an immediate reveal of price, firm ( right around the corner) launch date, and available bench test and user feedback videos.
The difference between the Makro Kruzer reveal than the other guys reveals,is that the Kruzer has more meat and potatoes in the reveal rather then bells and whistles.
To me, this is the sign of a company (Makro/Nokta) who not only understands what we the detectorists want in a machine, but what we look for in a detectors initial reveal and spec info.
Just my opinion and I am not bashing or casting malice towards any other brand.
I enjoy studying detector tech and marketing techniques and it is also a way to beat cabin fever. Any day now I am suspecting I will see my first robin of the year.
Happy Hunting.
