What a crazy way to hunt.....

I've gone over most of my sites and the year's been slow. Now as I was thinkin' about the situation, I got to thinking (I know, dangerous thing.) So why should I be concerned about depth-and it's probably an overrated topic.. So I come up with this combination: sniper coil (never take it off) - a/m mode-2 bars sensitivity! Couldn't believe I didn't get hardly any iron signals at most areas. And the teeny trash was mostly bypassed-although small wads of foil still came in (gold ring area). It was like using the old TR's only not having to worry about mineralization. Couple of coins at 3" along with a pulltab at that depth for the deepest coins. But the a/m mode made up for any shortcomings as there was no hesitations on the signals. It was simply awesome-I can see a gold ring coming! Also noticed some costume jewelry that was rejected at most settings. I think I'm gonna be using this at my sites all the time-it's really unbelievable. Almost forgot-using Ace 250.

I always use my sniper coil with the pedal to the metal for sensitivity and all metal or true all metal mode. But it never occurred to me to go the other way and use the sensitivity as a sort of discrimination method using both your ears and your brain. Great idea! Lots of good grey matter on this forum.

Oh yeah. Me, too. But the usual sites I've already hunted aren't getting too much traffic (rain, bad weather, etc.) and I didn't see any reason to believe the coins were gonna sink every week! So why not use a/m and hope for rings while bypassing most nuisance, teeny foil. And in the a/m mode, there is NO hesitation in the signal when it comes over a coin. On a final note, I dug a penny today. Not a big deal, but it registered right below screwcap and it was beneath a rusty 6 penny nail.
