of freezing, thawing and ploughing can do never ceases to amaze me!
Went to a spot today that I had'nt done since Dean from Whitbey and I hit it for about an hour in the very early and way to cold spring of 2004. We didn't get anything. About three years ago an Explorer wielding friend of mine pronounced it "coin free".
There used to be a small village that consisted of 5-6 houses,a blacksmith shop, general store and post office. All of that is gone now although new houses have been built on one side of the road. When I arrived this morning it was obvious that the field had been disked in the last few days.
This is all that remains of the post office. I put any large pieces of metal next to the rock and the owner picks it up before he seeds.

Had to empty my trash pocket of small iron and other crap after about an hour.

Had to empty my keepers pocket after about two hours.

All the bits and pieces, thinmbles, buttons etc., etc.

Some neat things. Would have been nice to find the pocket knife at a yard sale instead of its remains in a field. Dean, if you read this I could use a little help with the button. Appears to be CRO with a Gaunt & Son, Birmingham backmark. The point was a bit of a surprize. Don't have one like it. Any help here Wess?

I first did this field about 8 years ago with my friends Freedom Ace and got an AU 1852 US 3 cent. That little coin got me back into detecting. Didn't get one today though, in fact, no silver at all. Lots of beat up, holed and worn copper though. Two 1859 Canadian cents, 1852 half penny bank token, 1850 one penny bank token, a Habitant half penny token, an 1852 US LC, a too worn to date US LC and a very worn and beat to heck George III penny.

One thing I have to say, I really need to get away from the fields for a while. I think all the big iron is starting to affect my hearing and my machine. Maybe a nice old picnic area in the woods...
Thanks for looking & GH, Chris
