Headed out again today
We had are destination in mind but, made a couple quick stops on the way and never made it there.
The first stop my friend got a 1900 Indian then the owner asked if we wanted a cup of coffee after showing him the coin. I do not drink coffee but, my friend obliged the owner and after that he spent the rest of the time talking.
The owner was super great and kept serving my buddy coffee so, I hunted.
After a few minutes I was able to snag the 03 Barber stuck under a tree root. and a couple of wheat's and some kind of old stamp looking thing. It has a chain rope or something at the top then has writing on it. The only part I can make out is Superior and the word Merit.
Well, being my buddy is roaring and ready to hunt (full of leaded coffee) so, we head on to are spot or so we thought.
But, along the way we passed a place we hunted a couple times years ago and right out of the chute by friend snags a 1865 Indian on his first dig.
We talked and joked around then finally left for the place we wanted to go but, an old house that used to be gated off and run down was under new ownership and being re-stored.
We stopped and we where given permission and turns out the owner works close to where I live.
Anyhow, the house we wanted to hunt was the next place down but, this one was on are to hunt someday list and today was the day.
We new the next place down (are original planned destination) was built in the mid 1800s and it turns out this place was built around the same time by another family member.
My goal was to hit a personal milestone for Indian Heads for the year but, so far today they had eluded my coil and been under my friends.
Even though we where excited this place offered an obstacle of tall grass. Well, obviously we where going to give it a spin anyhow but, knowing we where loosing at-least 3+ inches from the get go expectation's where lowered.
Right out of the chute again my friend motions and I pull my headphones and he said another Indian.
I walked over to check it out and give him a pat on the back and it turned out to be an 1874.
I am very happy to see my buddy pull three Indians to emerge from his IH slump.
I knew there had to plenty left around as this place has not been hunted as far as we know.
Finally I dug a 1888 Indian after about 35 minutes.
My friend snagged an early wheat and an old enameled pin and I snagged two more wheat's.and a old silver necklace piece.
We had promised anything other then coins we would give to them so, they got the silver charm and the pin from my friend.
We asked if they owned the adjoining field between them and are intended destination and said yes. Then they stated we could return anytime and boy we cannot wait (especially once the grass is mowed).
Here are my friends digs for today.
