I had to be in Richmond on business, so I stopped by and picked up my Dad (Frank VA). We finished up early and headed on up to Fredericksburg for a little relic hunting. We have permission on 100 acres that used to be a Yankee camp. The grass was very high and the finds started a little slow. Dad started it off with this flat button.

Right after the button I got the thimble about a foot away. I guess someone was doing a little mending in camp. Note* THIS thimble came out of a CW camp - NOT EBAY!

We moved around a bit and late in the day we got into a little hot spot. We dug a few bullets and then went to the hotel. We came back the next morning and Dad started off the day with a bang! Right in the middle of 100 acres, he walks over a 14K white gold ring! Now you know why they call him the Ring Vacuum!

I followed his gold with a big fat button of my own.

This one made my day! A big Ol' Eagle A

It's been a long time since we got to dig together, and we had a ball! They are going to bushhog the field in a couple weeks so we will go back and WE WILL DIG RELICS!

Great finds and a great time with your Dad! What is the button looking thing with the bullets, far left middle? I find them often here in Germany, found one yesterday. HH, Mike

Ol' Pete lied himself into another corner?

Gonna call'em Pygmy Thimbles from the British Colonies.....very very rare, so rare you can't find'em in a Thimble Book. Wonder what forum they'll show up on next?
