Wetsuit drysuit

Just starting to do water detecting. I plan to start up to waist detecting in cold lake tahoe. But may go into full dive detecting. Do i want a wetsuit or a dry suit or both?

I dive in the lakes in the Seattle-Puget Sound area. I have a dry suit, but it is a pita to use.
I am 5'7" and the dry suits are made for guys 7'. I went to Harvey's and had a custom
wet suit made, 7 mil thick. I just made a dive today in Lake Washington and we have
not had any normal Spring weather so it was cold water. Took the tank down to 500
pounds and was just starting to get cold. Another important thing: If you go wet suit,
get a pair of pull on boots, NOT the zippered ones. Your feet will stay much warmer.
Alsoo 5 mil gloves. Good hunting to you.

It depends on your comfort level. I used to be fine with my 7mil wetsuit, but since I went to a drysuit I won't use anything else. If you go wet, make sure it's a snug fitting suit. If it's baggy at all it won't do a good job of keeping you warm. Also look for a pair of 7mil ice boots to keep your feet warm.

For me....
Drysuit...immersion suit...stay dry, stay warm, then you will enjoy your time detecting more...waders for upto waist deep, with a PFD only

Dry suit is nice , jump out of it and go ,no fuss.
It will get hot out of the water .
If water is slimy no problem there either.
