Wet soupy soil

Went out for a while with a friend because we had some snow melt and I was get cabin fever. So we go to an old ball field and went with standard coin, auto 2 and was getting good silver hits. Dug them up and were mostly nails and bolts. It was so wet the hole filled up with water at least half way. had my pp under to deep a couple of times. After some frustration I switched to gh open pattern and things made more sense. .I went to total open screen and was just using sounds. My question is does that much water in the soil screw everything up? Iron must have had a nice halo to ring up silver. I tried different sens levels but after I was covered with mud and soaked clear through I hung it up for drier days. Any one else run into this?

Wet soil you should have lowered your sen's your detector was probably running to hot for conditions which leads to more falses.sube

went down to "a" and it was running 3-4 clicks higher than it was wanting, did not seem to help. Ground balanced and noise cancel didnt seem to help.

Lots of reasons for this to happen electrical interference ground saturated with iron only makes it worse when wet. Have you tried a small coil which would take in less ground which won't be seeing all that iron.

I just got one. I had it on but didnt want to get it all messed up right away so I put the stock back on. Probably would have helped. Took about 10-15 minutes to clean all the mud off. Sorta ran into this situation before right after a really heavy rain, but the ground was not this satuarated.

I went hunting friday in the same conditions or worse 2-4 inches of soup on top of frost. Every step you took you sank to the frost in a bean field yuk cabin fever will make you do strange things!! We were on a real old cabin site full of iron my friend was using my old etrac for the first time and did real well. I was hunting in ferrous coin with wide open screen. The iron bin is set real low ( 50) sensitivity plus 3 recovery fast the big iron was high toning but could tell the difference by sounds and or by watching the icons finds were
1 chinese coin
1indian
1shield
18 musket balls
1 eagle coat button
1 1780-1830 superior quality button
1 1835 benedict burnham button
and other things?
the other thing I use is pitch hold I know its not for every one but it is awsome once you get the hang of it
