Did a little coin shooting over lunch the hour today with my Pioneer 202. The ground is extremely saturated, over 6" of rain since Monday. Set the sens at 12 and the disc at 11. Every step I take squished water to the top. Had several strong repeating signals for nickels, all turned out to be squashed aluminum beer cans. Then had a strong signal for clad quarter, turned out to be piece of aluminum can slaw. Two more signals for screw caps were right on the money. Then I hit an area about two feet in diameter and it registered zinc penny, then dime, then quarter back and forth. Digging down about 6" found a camp fire site with much charcoal and burned wood. Down about 2-3 more inches I started finding pull tabs and beer cans, no coins. This area was a riding stables with a playground and picnic tables that closed about 5 years ago. Haunted hayrack rides were held in late October for about ten years, so it has had a lot of foot traffic over the years. Over the last 6 months I have had no problem finding zinc pennies and clad change. Would excessive water mess with a detector this way? Any thoughts?
