Western Australia on Business

Next week I will be in Bunbury and Geraldton on business and I'm gonna pack the XTerra70 and try really hard to get out to Mt Magnet or at least Yalgoo for a day or so. I've got a few maps and a bucket full of determination.
I drove through the area last year but didn't have much time for anything other than a bit of a poke around
Can anyone tell me what to expect so far as mineralisation / hot rocks I can expect ?
If I make it to Mt Magnet I will stop in at "Pioneer Prospecting" for some advice but other than that, I'm a really lost.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

Just be sure to go where gold has been found before. Specifically nuggets.
If you can find any reference to where old finds were made, be sure to mark them on one of your maps.
Many of the geological features can be exactly the same as other which bear gold yet support none.
Hence the need to go where people have found some before.

I think there's a bit of iron ore out that way in the soil (typical for goldfields here) which would probably make the soils quite hot.
You'd probably do well to use one of the DD HF coils out there. You need someone to reply here who's been out that way.
Can you contact your local Prospecting store? They'll have all the information you need.

Thanks nero,
I've got a buet little booklet showing dryblower patches for the whole west Murchison area and I also found some geological survey data from the 1920's
showing production data and what type of ground the gold was found in etc.
There may also be a chance to pick up a specie, some of the reefs were ridiculously rich.
In the 1923 report, the 'Emerald' reef at Yalgoo - only 100' x 10' x 10' produced over 4000 ozs. (A nice patch)
Seems everywhere I go, the ground is noisy and full of hot rocks. I expect everyone can identify with that problem.
I'll use the elliptical DD 18.75Khz.
Cheers !
