Hey guys im pretty upset. I pick up the western and eastern treasure mag on a semi regular basis and was thinking about getting a subscription to it. With that being said for last few mags I have not seen a Minelab promo they used to have one. If that's the case and Minelab is not in there any longer I will not buy another one. Im also getting annoyed when I read other forums when they mention things like head to head with buddies etrac and smoked him or my ace two fifty beat the 2000 dollar ctx. it is so hard for me to bite my tongue. I know its just a hobbie and supposed to be fun but I am a die hard and a competitor and I cant help it but it really bothers me. Bottom line is this and I don't know how the other forums don't see this. Fact is I see tons of posts saying great day detecting and there is two dollars of clad. I throw that dang stuff in the weeds by the house, or set it on the park bench for the kids. How do they not see that these machines find old coins old silver! Lets not kid the reason we detect is for treasure hence old silver. I don't even like to put the dirty orange dimes in my pocket. Sorry guys I don't mean to offend or anger anyone and not posting this on another forum just had to vent. At any rate went out Tuesday and found two rosie's and Washington. Dates were 57 58 and 46. Im still having trouble posting pics. Hopefully tomorrow my girlfriend can show me how to resize pictures again so I can post. Thanks guys.

That silver in the ground is for us to find....so whenever someone states that E-Tracs are junk, or are no better than the low price Radio Shack grade detectors, just nod your head in agreement...in fact you should convince them that you have never found any silver with your E-T.

I have to agree with you. The Etrac is hard to beat by anything. I just recently bought another Etrac from a guy who thought he bought a magic wand and gold coins werent jumping into his finds bag so he bought the CTX and then kind of criticized it too. Just yesterday I hit a pounded park and squeeked out a 23 Merc. Everyone and his brother has hit this place and I still find silver. Its not my skill, its the awesome machine telling me there is silver down there.
I think its easy to be a critic if you either can or won't spend $1500 large on a machine or you just want to swim upstream when everyone else is swimming down. There is room for improvement on any machine and the E is no exception but only 2 things keep the E from being perfect and that is slow processor speed and the inability to find small gold, other than that, I am still amazed by what my E will do and have no intentions of ever getting rid of it.

The magazines doesn't choose who to post ads for.......... The Company ( Minelab) pays for the ads ............ So it is NOT anything to do with liking, or not liking MInelab if no ads.. Minelab didn't buy the spot...
Mags make their money advertising ... No ads would not be a reason not to buy the publication. It's about the Hobby not Just Minelab..
I think you also need to realize not all are in the hobby just for Silver finds. Some just enjoy detecting, and to them a couple dollars of clad is a great day.. They got out..had fun, and found something.
Were all different of how we enjoy what we do...

And to be honest. For them it may be the best choice... Again different things, for different people............ As far as Detecting......... Sometimes it depends on who got the coil over the target..so they brag a little about beating someone ..

I don't know of any detectors except for the three that I have used in my lifetime so I cant compare the etrac to any other modern detector. (my others are my radio shack I got when I was about 8 and then a whites 6000pso I got around 9 or 10....that was back in the early 80s).
everyone wants to love what they have by nature, and not feel that what they use isn't any good, its just human nature and psychology more than anything in my opinion. anyone can go out with any detector and do well, its part luck, part research, part determination, concentration, etc.
no one EVER finds every single thing at any site. if that was the case no one would ever go to the "old pounded park". theres always going to be stuff out there to find, its just a matter of getting a coil over it.
also if you get into an argument about which detector is best it probably just makes people dig their heels in ever deeper. it just doesn't do any good so why bother. don't let it get to you.

I just seen a post by mascard1 in the At pro/gold forum and he loves his etrac but he did not find the target with his etrac he,s been around it many times he says but found it with his At gold. So one never knows. That's why I have a few different detectors. To try them all in a place where the other can't see that special target that we all missed. HH,GS
I also agree that there are a lot of reasons people get into the hobby of detecting. Also it is human nature to knock what you do not have or cannot afford. It also tells me something that they always compare their machines to the e-trac instead of the whites v3i or the fisher f75 etc. Kind of like comparing their detector too the best out there. "well heck my 'ol rusty pick up can pull just as much as that fancy new one and I did not pay a fraction of what they did" that sort of thing. I also agree tell them that the e-trac was the worst investment you ever made!! The less e-tracs in the world the better
just think of it like this, even if somehow you convinced someone that they were wrong, if you prevailed, what difference would that make to you? would it really matter in the end, on your hunts, your finds, your own enjoyment of the hobby? theres always going to be debate and discussion. always going to be someones opinion that you disagree with. thats the internet. you have to look at it as a learning experience. take whatever good you can from it, and leave the rest behind. if theres no good, leave it all behind. 
for me personally, sure, ill listen to what someone has to say. am i happy with what I have, yes. am i looking for another detector right now, no. do i enjoy reading what people have to say, sure. i like the hobby and i like to read about it.

Yea, Will, I know how you feel...........then I pull out some of my finds & watch the braggards eyes "bug out". 
I hear you on posting pictures. I had it down pat on my old computer........Not so on the new one! I would love to post a picture of the 1835 Capped Bust dime I found yesterday with my "junk" E-trac!
Maybe it is junk.......it was the only coin I found all day yesterday (corn-field hunting). Did find three buttons & half a dozen musket balls, though..........

I noticed that No Minelab in ads in W&E Treasure, Lost Treasure and American Diggers magazines. Is Minelab want to save money or business go down.....I don't know! I love old coins but private house is so hard for me because I always turn down.....I see clearly that I am deaf. I find old coins as early as 1877 from public is not bad. I love my E-trac and got lot of coins easily! I used 4 different metal detector in the past and E-Trac is the best for me! I don't care if people like my machine or not and some people want to make etrac look bad because they cant afford and use simple like ACE 350 or something. Garette pay a lot of money for ads!
