Went to the river, Tuesday

I finally put the At/Pro together and went to the river for almost 3 hours Tuesday. The water was so cold, the fish had coats on. Miss my chest waders. Garrett replaced my stereo/mono headphones and the ones they sent were loud. You don't hear the little high pitched sound like you used to with the older At/Pro, it's just real loud and bottle caps sound like a piece of metal big as my foot. I found 4 coins for a total of 50 cents and one dime was a 1965 and I thought I had found another silver coin. It was great to get out, but I couldn't get past waist deep even tho I was wearing under armour under my jeans and long sleeve shirt. It was great to get out and I totally enjoyed it. If I get all my errands done today and Mama is okay in the morning, I'm heading about 60 miles south of home to a spot I've had permission to detect since January. I'm taking both my detectors and planning on making a day of it at this old resort. I wanted to pull up an aerial photo of the place, but only have a little time left to do the church prayer list and go to the store. HH.

65 dime, close, but no cigar. Dug a 6 coin coin spill this morning, 4 wheats and 2 Memorials. Thought the 2 Memorials should have been at least silver Rosies. So, no cigar for me either. HH jim tn

Had to skip my plans to go to a resort this morning. I hadn't used my detector in so long, my right hand felt like it had a hairline fracture. I'm not completely loafing today, come to town for mama and stopped by the library for a little R & R.

Thanks John. I keep running into problems getting to this site, but hope it will be later this week. 93 degrees today and Tuesday and in the high 80's later this week and I hope to detect when it rains. It was a lot cooler the day at the river. One area I've had permission to detect has had to high water to safely detect there, but the way it's looking, we may be getting back into a drought in my area and the water may be down a couple feet by July and that should make all the difference. This water comes from an underground spring and is cold year round so I will be wearing the wetsuit for this area.
GL & HH.

Me too, upnorth. I went to this old resort last week and got so hot I had to stop and didn't find anything but trash and lots and lots of trash. Going back with the sniper coil maybe one day this week. I know there is something there, even tho I'm sure people with detectors have been there before me.

Funny how this all works. I swing hopelessly between cherry picking and trying to expand and dig pretty whatever looks/sounds good. I tend to go back to spots with trash when I am fresh and in the mood to deal with it. I can usually only get out once a week so I am usually more than ready by then. But after 2-4 hours the back gets really stiff and cranky, so it becomes cherry picking time. I likely miss gold and old nickels this way, but I still have fun, so all is good. Good luck with the small coil.

I planned to go today because the weather was a little cooler than normal, but too many errands. I have to cook for our family Memorial Day, but plan to hit the river Tuesday. There should be 300-400 people at the river Monday and hope they make some deposits to the Fongu fund...lol
I wish all our vets and their families a happy & safe Memorial Day.
