Went to the beach

This is the closest thing to a beach here in the town, near where I live. I had to put the rain coat on the Ace and off I went.

I was reading on another forum that The Works toilet bowl cleaner was good for cleaning coins. Here are a few dirty coins.

30 seconds later and here are the clean.

I did it to all the coin and it worked ok. I let the copper soak for a minuet. The rectangle thing is copper. I don't know what it is and it has nothing written on it. This is my total for the day.

I found a 1943 cent. For those of you who are not familiar with U.S. coins it is not made out of copper. They needed the copper for the war and made them out of steel. I hunt in the jewelry mode. So iron/steel are always canceled out.
I saw an imprint's in the moss next to a tree of a cent. When I swung the coil over it , nothing. I was thinking maybe it was plastic play money. Nice surprise, I should have never found it. The lighting may make it look copper, but it does look like steel. That 3 doesn't look right.

Nice finds John. That's a cent I will probably never find because I never hunt in all metal.

Zinc coated steel. The three may be a mistrike. I would check it out. I've got a 1943 proof somewhere. If I can find it I'll post a pic.

Bill

The copper looks like a bit of flashing, printers blank or even boat patching. Of course we know it is at least a "whatsis?"

Neat idea on the cleaner.

Never overlook fresh water sites. Fresh beaches, boat ramps, docks - all get their share of attention from the public. We have a nice "beach" here on the Savannah river that is really just a bend in the course. But, kids flock there all summer.

By the looks of the town, there is a history there. Surely there are riverfront areas that are no longer popular, but once were.

Nice haul m8.
Yep, I can just picture you with the Ace and it's plastic mac and you with your plastic poncho and shades.
In cognito of course.

Ace has a raincoat, I don't worry about me. I wear a ball cap to keep the rain off my glasses. I'll dry off. If I get cut I'll heal. I have to take care of the ACE.

There's some guys in Arizona that hit one of the rivers where tubing is a big deal part of the year. When the river drops down real low and dry in some spots they really clean up on coins, watches, and jewelry, dumped by the tubing crowd. They make some big scores.

They probably find some of my stuff - when I lived in Phoenix, we used to do alot of tubing. I wonder if they found my old room-mates lost car keys?

That was a lucky find John. Glad to see you found a beach. It looks like you're flush with coins. ( I'll quite the bad jokes one day.)Can you imagine if all your money was made of steel. In a number of countries. That is what they do (including ancient Roman coins). My in laws came back from their trip overseas last year with quite a number of coins from lots of places. Many from the Middle East countries were made of steel, as were a couple from Africa. Our Canadian friends seem, to experience the same thing to a degree. I sure am glad we don't here in Oz.
Welcome back to the Forum Dave. Folks have been asking after you.
Cheers.
