Went to the beach today...

And found my first gold ring ever, WOW what a day. The only marks on the ring are on the inside it says .585. I will never forget this ring or the people connected to it.

I was at the beach with a friend of mine today, he was about 300 yards away from me and when I found it, my emotions got the best of me. For whatever reason, I started jumping up and down like a maroon yelling "I got one, I got one!".

My friend comes over, he's been detecting since the mid 70's and says, "alright let's see it". I dig it out of the pouch and he looks it over and says "that is a great ring". We talk a little more and he says,"You know you can't sell that one right"? I told him "Yeah I know, I could never do that anyway". Thanks for looking.

Congratulations! Finding your first gold ring is a fantastic feeling. I think we can all remember our first, my wife has it in her collection now! Keep them coming. Live your dreams! HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

That looks like a real honker TreasurdiggrNY! The markings indicate 14K gold. And nugget is right, you can't sell the first one! Even with gold near $900 an ounce!

WOW Glenn your hooked now, I cant forget the first time i found my first Gold Ring, Now your a Lifer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can certainly understand your excitement, but you must learn to control your emotions. Practice in the bathroom mirror, yer pirate face! ARRRRRRRRR! When you find one, let the excitement well up inside you, but shove it to the point, that you grimace instead, kinda a poker face, if you will. You will get a lot of practice in the field on pull-tabs! Just pretend it's another pull-tab, and that should put a real sour look on yer face! Yer in a bind aren't cha? There ain't no gittin over what you got mate! The only thing that will help is to go out and find another piece. Sometimes, you will be in a spell like I'm in too! Would you believe 13 hunts, no gold? Would you believe the longest at 25? You must persevere through these tough times, because the gold will reappear eventually, but sometimes it takes some time for the conditions to come back in your favor, best of luck to ya and CONGRATS on the .585 (14K)!

yep - the first is always a lifetime keeper
i relate to your excitement as i just started detecting this year and know how i felt when i scooped my first which was a 14k nugget ring with a great 15point diamond
may the first be a harbinger of what's to come

ps - as is typical GH has some good advice

Thanks for all the nice posts each and every one of you, I appreciate it. Diggindirt, so glad you were there buddy. Thanks for the advice GH:biggrin:, I knew you were going to break my chops on the whole jumping up and down thing. I will TRY to contain things but jumping up and down on the beach is a lot of fun and if I am ever fortunate enough to find something with stones man, all bets are off.
