Went out with GH.....

Gulf Huntress

New member
Howdy, sure has been awhile since I posted here. Figured ya'll might of missed me, so here I am again. Went with GH last evening and hit several spots, no gold, but lots of coins, total take was $4.42. and lots of trash, I found a .925 earring and a ring, well I am hoping it is a ring, looks like one and is heavy. Silver in color, no markings inside, but when siver acid testing, no color change. So, I went to the gold acid, tested 10K, it held, tested 14K, it held, tested 18K, it held. So, does anyone have any idea what it could possibly be? The first pic of the ring is not very clear, sorry, my eyes are not what they use to be, lol. The second pic of the ring is beside a quarter, so you can see the size. It weighs in at 12.2 grams. It is heavy and about a size 6, my ring size. Would like to know your opinions. The third pic is of the total haul. Enjoy.

I felt the same way, the ring had some hardened sand on one area, i got that off and polished it up, it is so large. How can I find out if it is PLAT?

Thanks Morris, if it is PLAT, it will be my first, jsut wish I knew for sure. It is so heavy, I wore it for awhile tonight and my hand was hurting. LOL

I thought to just run it under the coil. Figured that if it were stainless, it would be real low in tone. It sounds higher, like silver, a real mystery. She is going to a jewelry store tomorrow and see if they have more advanced methods of determining the type of metal. Will update ya'll with the details. WTG me lady!

Huntress, first off glad to see you back at the detecting. I hated to here about the kitchen accident. That is one thick ring, whatever it turns out to be. They make a Platinum test acid, tell GH he needs that in his kit. From the test you described it could be Platinum, or 22K white gold, or Palladium all test with no color change with silver acid.. Good luck with it. Tell GH I read his post, great load of loot he got also. HH
