Went back to the place near my house where a dozer had just razed an old house last week. They then came in with a disk, and disked the dirt. We just had some serious rain last night and this morning, so while I was detecting, I was packing 5 pounds of mud on each boot. I would have to lift my leg with both hands, throw it forward, then get the other one... well, it wasn't quite that bad, but you could certainly tell you were packing 5 pounds of mud on each boot.
My first find was this U.S. lapel pin. I don't think its much older than the second World War, still has pins attached.

My next find was this lead dog; unfortunately, the dozer smooshed his back end, but he was all there. Unlike the broken calvary rider I found last week in five pieces.

Hmmm, this next one's real interesting. Its a very old lead-back tin plate. I called Mountain Man, he said its probably a rosette, and could pre-date the Civil War. The next couple of pictures are the front and back of it after I cleaned it up. I can see no emblem or marking on the front, so I'm guessing its just a plain rosette. But what else does this old house site hold? Hmmm.

Some of you remember last week I found this little pressed tin plate. I found it in my Civil War book, the exact same thing. Its a woman's belt clasp. The other part of it is missing, the part that hooks to it. Guess you could say I'm finding "girly" things.
