Got out detecting at an old site I have been wanting to hit. Got permission from the farmer to hit this old stone foundation. It was a short hunt, but I did get some goodies. Only one coin, a 1927 wheatie, two silver plated spoons, two old compacts, a lantern top, a Montgomery Wards karosene heater tag, a cork top bottle top, a neat harmonica reed that is curved on top. Never found one like that and I have found dozens.

This compact is a Princess Pat with a seperator inside.

Cool finds there Mike! Love that old "personal" stuff!

Had to work today but I had an hour to play before I left. Too bad I had to work 'cause it was around 61 degrees today. Shorts weather right? :) I was just trying a couple of things and found 3 deep wheaties at a different park... (and some clad) I've been researching another site that used to be someone's property going back to the 1700's. It's a bit of a drive from me but if I don't hit it before the ground freezes, I'll get it in the spring. Still an original building on the site from the late 1800's. One of the guys I met said they've picked up some oldies there. Once again, I'll be hunting a site that's been pounded :) That's OK, I enjoy the challenge :)

It's fun digging those old days things, so much more interesting than the same old coins. Glad you & Joe are getting out - I will get out for a while tomorrow after church. Next week is my last chance to increase this year's digs so I'm going out several times. Good luck to you two, Steve in so az

Oh it has been hunted before! GOOD! Now I can find what they all missed! :) I hope you find some real old ones! :)

been your best for coin totals?

Cool finds Mike...or were they cold finds!! LOL

Glad you got out today. Those compacts are really neat!

There is a big box from UPS sitting near the tree and Brian is begging to open it! So am I!!

but the ground was perfect! Try and get a pic of when he opens it! :)

I will definitely take pics!!

have the advantages over some, being retired; having lots of places to hunt with a huge population; and being able to hunt year round. I'm closing in on 11 thousand coins for the year and would trade most of them for a few Barbers & such :) Steve

I will send you a few barbers and such, you send me a check equal to your 11,000 coins! Better yet, come on up here and find them with me! :) I had my best year yet on old coins! I will let you know the totals next week!

to seeing your totals ! If I lived back there every day you were working you would know I was out digging "your" old coins & it would drive you nuts :) Steve

I could just retire and we could go dig together!
