Went out and froze today.:surrender:

Went out to a colonial site hit well, but not that well. All the large coppers were gone, but not some of the other items. Found 2 Indians, a destroyed 1863, and a 1870. Both were in xf condition when dropped, but the ground killed them. The four holes in the older Indian didn't help either! A nice buckle, candlestick base, musket balls, a nice shield (horse hardware?), and other stuff. Not a bad outing, but no silver. It was about 28 degrees all day with a good, stiff wind coming off of the reservoir. Can't wait until all of the snow is gone. Does anyone know what the iron item is? It's hinged and I think it is kitchen related? All ideas are welcomed especially the right one.:rofl:HH

Interesting finds Coinnut. That iron thing looks familiar but I can't place it.

Where are you located? The ground isn't frozen? I am dying to get out there and dig up some stuff but I'm up in Maine right now and the earth is rock hard - I'd need a blow torch to make a dent in it.

WOW,Fantastic Finds , The IH with the 4 holes is very interesting, I wonder why
the 4 holes were put in it . Very nice hunt, glad you braved the cold
to have such great pics to show us :clapping:.

hello coinnut and everyone, isnt it amazing what were willing to put ourselves thru for that next good beep? i can certainly relate to that! good job coinnut, may the wind be at your back, the sun in your face...hh,

Hay Coinnut,

You did good for freezing your buns off. Heck you just plain did good. What am I talking about:shrug:

HH,

Hi, I.m a bit below you in western MA. It's not frozen in the woods, as long as you are in an area of leaves or pine needles. This site was in upper Conn.

I think maybe it was part of a home made necklace, and that was the center piece. Two strands on each side. Wish I found the beads!

Very nice finds!
I think I'd endure a day a freezing cold to find them...

I've heard, since folks had so little money, back when, that a coin might be 'holed' to sew it into a jacket lining as backup money.
So I've always thought it provided a better story for a coin, in a way.
4 holes?
I dunno...

You don't want to go detecting with me. I never want to quit!! If I were single I might not come home for days. My wife has a limit to her patience. If I'm not back in about 14 hours, out goes the hound dogs.:chase:

Hey Tabdog, I think you should get up and try the cold for a while.:clapping: One thing for sure, it has to be warmer where you are?

I'm gambling on a necklace. I can just picture some dad giving his little girl a home made necklace with a shinny new Indian penny as the center piece. Well it makes for a good story anyhow!

Is it warm enough for detecting up your way? The woods here are still not frozen, even under about 2-3 inches of snow.
