Me, Luke and My son took a good breakfast at Mc Donalds first thing this morning. While there, we were discussing where to go detecting. Unfortunatly we had snow again this week and we were wonderring if the ground was frozen again.
We drove around for a while and spotted a nice park with big threes and most important, no snow!
Here is Luke taking his equipment out of the "detectmobile" (sorry, had to modify the picture a little to keep the place secret):

We were very fortunate because the ground was loaded with humidity so the signals were clear and it was real easy digging. First signals produced pennies from the fortys, so we knew we were on silver ground. It wasn't long before luke got his first silver dime.
Here is my technique for easy digging in the lawn. First you get a good signal. You put your shovel in first like that :

Then you dig a second time in the circle arch like this :

And all you have to do is to flip the ground over like this. Many times, your coin will show up right away. Sometimes you have to dig a little deeper but today most of the find weren't deeper than 6 or 7 inches.

Once you lick up the coin (unfortunatly, there were pennies most of the time, but some were as old as 1918!).As I was saying, once you get the coin, you check again for signals and if there aren't any left, you flip the mud back in the hole with the foot and off you go. We must have dug 300 holes today in a relatively small area and nobody could notice we were there except for some scarce traces of mu that will vanish after the next rain.
Well it was fun. I ended the day with 6 silver coins, a silver ring, a swimmer pin, a 1943 tobac nickle, a 1936 nickle and about 5.28$ in coins. Pretty fin day i say, even if Luke beated me with his finds !
