WENT LOOKING FOR AN OLD MINE TODAY!

jog

New member
Went out to a canyon on BLM land. There is supposed to be an old gold mine in one of two canyons.Started out climbing straight up then ended up in a large slide area with a lot of blow down from last years big storm. What a work out.Had the kids with me and they did really good, considering they are 6 and 9.Didn't find the mine but did find some quartz.Sorry about the pics. Not my camera.

We took a break in some large trees, then dropped off into a river bottom on the other side.Found some quartz in the bed rock, and some other small pieces.Very steep ground. Will try again another day.

Nice pictures, sorry you didn't find the mine. You know it could be buried under the slide area, I would go back and try to follow the quartz vein, that's a good indication that gold is there................And the youngsters found their gold in the adventure of the trip.......::clapping:

Thanks for sharing your outing with us jog. Sure brought back some good memories. I still love walking those rock beds and finding that special piece of mineral to bring back home. Skipping a few stones in the river and listening to the current. Doesn't get much better than that! OK, I'm ready to go!!!! Almost forgot about the old mine you were looking for. Hope you find it along with some good items. Be careful and HH, Nancy

From my point of view you did find a gold mine, in the photos that you took. Ahhhh sweet memories. HH Dennis in Idaho

Nice looking country, Ill have to take some pictures from over here and let you guys see where we hunt in OZ. Different world all-together.

B.T., I would love to see the other side of the world and I'm sure many here in the States would agree with me! :please: HH, Nancy

The bad part about the whole thing, is that because of the slides and blow down we ended up back tracking into the wrong canyon. We did have a good time ,we even found a deers shed antler sticking out of the mud in one of the slides. Will try and get into the other canyon on another day.I am going to go back and check the quartz in the bedrock real good.I think are good weather is coming to an end, supposed to be a storm coming.

Beautiful rugged country !
