Went for a solo spin on Sunday AM, with the Excal. Was in the water by 445A setting my buoys into a 527A -0.9L. Have not hunted since 01/02, so my mojo was off the scales as you might imagine. Winds were ESE 10-15 and increasing as I left the surf. Spanky showed up and joined me in the hunt, but his new/used Excal is getting some love in Vegas, so he ran the dry-wet sand with the GTI2500. We have a very strong cold front here now. It's gunna be 32 tonight! That's damn cold for around here yanks! I got up at 3AM today for the hunt and got back in bed. It was raining and around 40 degrees. I figured even with the drysuit, that once my scuba mask got wet from the rain, that would be the end of me. Guess I'm just a wuss!

Anyway, targets were plentiful, but the density was a little lighter than I like to see, in the shallow mine, so I went deeper. Clad count was down substantially at $2.51. Ring #1 was a pleasant surprise, it is .925 and has little knobs around it's outer perimeter and a maltese cross that are gold plated/colored. Then I got a wild hair and went out to around neck deep just to see what was out there for the day and out pops the band. This ring is kind of a mystery. It is not marked, but looks to have been sized at 1 time. I silver acid tested it and it held lime green, so we'll call it silver, but not .925. It had been in the depths for a while as it was quite crusty.

Ended up bailing around 1145A and it was a decent hunt. Hope to get out soon, but snow/sleet warnings are expected and South Texas does not do ice, know whatta mean?
