Went for a spin last night.............

Went to the west end of the island in pursuit of a treasure map lead. The story is that 10 years ago, a co-worker was dating a woman, who was going through a divorce. They were walking down the beach and suddenly, she went into the surf, at high tide, removed her rings and threw them in! Now I know that is a long time ago, but figured I'd give it a go. This part of the island, does not get any replenishment and the shell base is not far under the sand. There is some large iron here. Supposedly there were 4 gold, 1 being over a karat in diamonds. I stepped off, what I believed to be an accurate location to begin. Was in the water by 10P, into a 1259A -0.3L and SE winds 5-10. Was running the GQA2, to get maximum depth and sensitivity. There was an enormous amount of RF or some interference from the houses nearby. I do not usually hunt this close to houses here. The unit was operating very strangely and almost seemed like it was defective. Was still able to get signals, but they were not strong and clear, as usual. There was crackle through the headphones, even with the power button turned off! BIZARRE! The nut is LOUSY!

Within 5-10 minutes after I began the hunt, I recovered this James Avery Designer .925 Band. It was still shiney and I was thinking at the time it could possibly be white gold. 1 of the 4!

I methodically searched the area. The tide was way out and it was in a gut between the bars in the wet sand. With the unit operating poorly, I was not sure that I could hear a target, like I should have been able to. My headlight went out about 1A and I was a 1/4 mile down the beach. I worked my way back to the truck and changed my headlight batteries.
I left this location and went to the east end of the island, to give it a try. Ran the GQA2 again, to see if it was the unit or location. I was in the water here by 145A. It seemed to be running fine at the new location, but it was so sanded in that the targets were just not coming to hand. Ended up with a nickel and bailed at 3A.
