Went Detecting This Morning :detecting:

This morning was perfect for detecting, at the park next door, until the park guys showed up and began blowing leaves. Their machines made so much noise, I couldn't hear the detector or the pinpointer sounding off. Anyway ... I did manage to get about an hour in before the work crew showed up. Other than junk all I found was 1 quarter, 2 dimes, 1 penny, one watch battery, and a new handkerchief. Someone must have dropped it.

Certainly better than sitting inside all the time ! I'm going back out swinging tomorrow morn. I went yesterday , dug 51 coins and my old body wont take 2 days in a row any more.

Where did all that energy from the past go :(

Steve in so la

The Tesoro Silver uMax is a lot easier to swing than the Treasure Pro. It's interesting that a person detecting can hunt in All-Metal Mode and when a target is located flip the switch to Discriminate to see if the target goes quiet. If it does, you know your over a junk target. I like that :). The downside, if there's is one, is that everything has one tone but, after a while, you can tell by sound whether it's a good target or not most of the time. Unfortunately, a smashed pop can six inches in the ground sounds a lot like a large coin does. Therefore I dug a lot of pop cans this morning. I noticed that setting the discriminate a bit higher solves most of the problem of good target / bad target. This is only my second time out with this detector so it will take a while to get the hang of 'Listening' rather than depending upon a meter and different tones of other more sefisicated detectors. So, if the Treasure Pro doesn't sell, I may go to a lighter coil and a shoulder harness to help with the weight problem.
