Went Colonial Detecting on Saturday

Kind of a good day/bad day. Me and Dan went out early and found some new sites!! Got to the first site and BAM, 1814 Large Cent in great condition! We thought we are going to have a field day!! Not much else. Who ever hit this site did a great job, except for this coin. But then my luck turned. I left my keys in my shirt pocket, and you guessed it - THEY ARE GONE!!. House key,(3) vehicle keys, and a master key for work. Me, the guy who can find a 194 year old cent the minute I get there, can't find a set of keys right on top of the ground! And to top it off, this place is only accessible with a jeep. But my good buddy said he'd go back and we can try and find those keys. If he finds them, I'll never hear the end of it:rofl: The other Item I found may be a Spanish bit. I can't see any of the design, but it looks cut and hash marked like another bit I found before. So not a bad day detecting, but I wish I wasn't a knucklehead with my keys!! HH

Coinnut, you got a spot there, as you know. I will bet money that place is still holding. I would pound that to death with all 3 coils. Nice Nice large cent.Congrats. Forgot, sorry about your keys, that's a bad feeling, I know.

use one of those clips that attach to a belt loop!..life saver!

One of my greatest fears in the Boonies is my keys getting lost or locked inside the truck. Since many auto keys now are large and have a chip in them, I protect myself with these 2 steps. I duct tape a simple entry key to the back of my license plate and screw the plate back on with slot headed screws. You can always use a coin on these instead of a screw driver. I then hide a set of the more chunky keys in the truck. This procedure saved my butt three times already

:clapping: Great large cent !!

Congrats on the very nice Lg Cent! it is in awesome shape.

Sorry to hear about your keys. I think it has happened to all of us at one time or another. Good luck fining them, Beale.
