Went back to the trough this morning at 6 AM ; found a 1916 ( no mint mark) "merc" and this 14 K diamond and gold ring

The target sound was not the usual low "growl " of gold on my Gt. and when I first saw this in the scoop I thought it was a brass washer because it was so wide, but when I turned it over I thought "Hey, this washer has a diamond in the center!" It was quite a surprise !!
