Went back to the old park...

So I woke up early again and fought the rush hour and finally make it to the old park I had been to from Sunday. Not a bad day. I was dectectin for about 4 hours and came away with 1 Millenium dollar, 9 quarters, 6 nickels (one from 1943 Philedelphia Mint), 4 dimes, 15 pennies, transit token, key, button, and small silver toe ring. Over all I wa happy about the day. I am still on the hunt for the old silvers that I know are out there. The park was first used in 1880. Excited only 2nd time out on the feild with my MXT

hmmm, no more help and tips for you.....LOL, just kidding. You had an awesome day! congrats on 2 silvers! I owned my MXT Pro for 2 years and just recently found my first silver war nickel. And the silver toe ring is a nice bonus too, your doing very well with such a large coil. The bigger the coil the harder it is to find such small targets like a toe ring. Thats why gold nugget coils are really small. Keep it up!

Thanks buddy. It's completely virgin! Lol this was all in a proximaty of 50 yards. The parks is 6 acres. Still have a lot of ground to cover. Lots of Pulltabs so I'm only digging that vdi range if the vdi is dead on. Passed a lot up

Doing great. You'll find that silver and I would love to be there watching. It's a great feeling seeing that bright silver coin coming out of the ground looking like the day it was lost. Thanks for posting and keep swinging that coil. HH, Nancy

Your tactic to avoid pulltabs is spot on, of course you'll still dig some or a lot but with so many of them you got to try to avoid what ones you can. By the way, how is the noise issue you were having? Did the machine stabilize out in a different area? When mine gets really noisy and I figure its just the local spot causing interference, I notice that as long as I keep the coil moving it is not noisy. If I stop and hold it still, it gets very noisy. Its a temp fix if you really want to hunt those spots with electrical interference.

Yea but now I think how many old nickels and gold I might've passed up lol. I think one day where I have more time ill dig some more. It's gotten much better. Tot lots and at the parks was a bit noises but at the beach it was very stable. Your right it's the different areas.

[size=medium]as Aarong81 is pointing out and to add a reason. you will find even more than you're doing now, with a smaller coil. the more targets your big coil has to deal with the more chances of nulling. basically things like pull-tabs hiding the signals from real treasure. the more tabs you clear out the increase of uncovering the real target you are after. so although you're doing real well, think of how much more treasure you stand to find with the smaller coil. my personal fav is the 10"DD from whites. the D-2 coil. goes deep and separates targets very well. just ideas here. you are doing well.

Thanks widebody. I'm thinking if the SEF 8x6 coil

Very true, Widebody...Think about this scenario, 2 pulltabs about 6 inches apart and a silver dime directly between them. With the 12" coil, you cannot possibly ID the dime without having BOTH pulltabs under the coil at the same time. Even if you use the 950 coil, At least 1 of the pulltabs will be in the signal area with the dime. But with the 10" D2 coil, it has a very narrow signal that can see between the 2 pulltabs without detecting either of them. You can find that dime without any nulling from the junk even if its an inch to the side. Junk right over top or directly below will still cause problems with IDing. But as I've said before, it will have you digging a lot of bottle caps that show up as quarters or dimes, something other DD coils have been said to do as well.
